HERBERT "BEN" C. MASSMAN, 81, died at 3:15 a.m. February 4, 2007, at his residence. He was born on December 10, 1925, in Lima, Ohio, to Ralph and Rose Bell Massman who preceded him in death. On July 30, 1951, he married Lois I. Cheney, who also preceded him in death. Mr. Massman was the co-owner of Ben Massman Sport Mart along with his wife for 40 years. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast for the last 65 years and was a 50-year member of the American Motorcycle Association. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie 370, Lima, Ohio. He served in the Army during World War II from February 9, 1945, to November 21, 1946. He received the Victory Medal, the Asian/Pacific Campaign Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. Survivors include a daughter, Melinda (Robert) Glasco, of Lima, Ohio; a son, Rodney Massman, of Lima, Ohio; a daughter, Kimberly Massman Clementz, of Elida, Ohio; three step-grandchildren, Carolee Austin, Miranda Lane, and Robert Glasco III; and six step-great-grandchildren, Caleb, Bailey, Cameron, Jesse, Conner and Jackson. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Wanda Werking will officiate. Burial will be in Shawnee Cemetery, Lima, Ohio, with a graveside military service by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. Friends may call 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
