Hildegarde Watkins

Hildegarde Watkins, 94, of Lima, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 9:57 a.m. at Novi Lakes Health Campus in Novi, MI.

She was born on September 21, 1924 in Lima, Ohio to the late Harold and Ethel {Barnett} Haithcock. She married Belton Watkins, who preceded her in death in 2010.

She worked for the State of Ohio, retiring from the Unemployment Office. She was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary, as well as a member of Second Baptist Church in Lima. She was a past matron of The Eastern Stars and enjoyed reading and knitting more than anything.

She is survived by her daughter Charlene (Norman) Woodley, grandchildren Kristen Gamble, John Bruce Jones, Kelly (John) Baker, and Kacy (Cornelius) Hare, 12 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, and her brother Larry Haithcock, and several nieces and nephews.

Hildegarde was preceded in death by her brothers John, Thomas, and Gordon Haithcock.

Her family will receive friends on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 10-11AM at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima. A funeral service will begin at 11AM at the funeral home. Pastor Terri Haithcock will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima.
