Howard Clayton ?Clay? Point, 80, died at 6:05 p.m. Jan. 22, 2009, at his residence. He was born Dec. 28, 1928, in Union City, Ind., to John J. and Ada Rebecca Taylor Point, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 10, 1949, he married Kathleen Link, who survives in Lima. Mr. Point retired from National Life Insurance Co., United Insurance Co. and Sears, having sold insurance products for more than 40 years. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, where he ushered for 17 years and collected for visitation Sunday for several years. He was a life member of Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54. He was an Air Force veteran serving from June 12, 1946, to May 20, 1949. Survivors also include two sons, Gregory Point, of Lima, and Michael Point, of Cridersville; a daughter, Cathy (Carlo) Selvaggio, of Lima; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five sisters, Evelyn Riegle, of Lima, Janice Riegle, of Missouri, Mildred Williams, of Reynoldsburg, and Shirley Vogt and Beverly Macklin, both of Spencerville; and two brothers, Harold Point, of Indianapolis, and Dale Point, of Lima. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Louise Point. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Charles Catholic Church. Father Norbert Howe will officiate. Burial will be in Spencerville Cemetery.
