Howard Stelzer

Howard Stelzer, 92, passed away at 2:48 a.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Springview Manor Nursing Home.

Howard was born on January 22, 1930 in Lima, Ohio, to Wilbur and Carrie (Gossman) Stelzer.  On August 6, 1950 he married Beverly A. (Youngberg) Stelzer who preceded him in death.

Howard served in the Army National Guard and had worked at Milcor Lima Register as group leader and painter.  He enjoyed bowling, baseball, fast-pitch softball, hunting, and all sports.  He also loved his dogs.

He is survived by his son, David (Tammy) Stelzer of Lima, OH; daughter, Jill (Dan) Brown of Springfield, OH; grandchildren: Elizabeth Stelzer, Heather Stelzer, Jennifer (Jerry) Payton, Amy (Chris) Blair, Andrea (Will) Dailey; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Lorna (Tom) Emerson; sister-in-law, Pat Stelzer; and special cousin, Dr. Mark McDonald.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Vernon, Merle, Marcine, and Joan.

The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2023 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio.  A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m.  Chaplain Lydia Brenneman will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Society or Veterans Food Pantry.
