Irma Gehm, 88, of Columbus, formerly of Lima, Ohio, died at 10:49 p.m. June 18, 2008, at her residence. She was born October 1, 1919, in Kaiserslautern, Germany, to Johan and Katherina Brand Straub, who preceded her in death. In August 1937, she married Helmut A. Gehm, who died June 22, 1993. Mrs. Gehm retired as a seamstress from Gregg's Department Store after several years. She was a member of First Evangelical & Reformed Church and its Ladies Aid Society. Survivors include a son, Edgar H. (Genny) Gehm, of Columbus, Ohio; a granddaughter, Melissa (Brad) Welsh, of Millersburg, Ohio; and three great-grandchildren, Katie, Reagan and Jack. She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Gehm; a granddaughter, Melanie Gehm; two brothers, Franz Straub and Johan Straub; and four sisters, Elsa Schmitt, Anna Steitz, Berta Montique and Erna Flick. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Edward Rinehart will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
