Irvin W. Lauber , 91, of Lima died at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at his residence.
Irvin was born August 14, 1922, in Holton, Indiana, to the late Frank Lauber and Nettie [Jackson] Lauber. On April 17, 1948, in Lima, Ohio, he married Belva [Akers] Lauber who was his wife of 63 years and she died June 12, 2011.
He served in the U. S. Navy as a signalman in World War II. He was a member of Rousculp Church of Christ and was a former committeeman for the Allen County Republican Party as well as a member of BPOE Lodge #54, Lima. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He resided at Burton's Ridge and enjoyed the residents there. He considered the staff who assisted him as extended family.
He is survived by a son, William G. (Karen) Lauber, of Lima, OH; two grandchildren, Kellie (Ken) Worden of Lima, OH and Kimberly (Jim) Skelly of North Canton, OH. Also surviving are two great grandchildren Spencer Skelly and Clay Skelly and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers Cloyd, Willard and Earl Lauber and two sisters Leah Engle and Mary Jackson.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, August 30, 2013 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
Funeral Service will begin at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Rousculp Church of Christ with Pastor Kenny Rader officiating.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, Ohio.
