79, of Lima, Ohio died on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at Lima Convalescent Home in Lima, Ohio.
Born April 4, 1933 in Trujillo, Dominican Republic. He was the son of the late Maximo A. Vazquez and the late Violita Isabel (Casanova) De Vazquez.
Ivan married Martha Evans on March 26, 1983 in Elida, Ohio. She survives in Lima. Ivan served in Korea with the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired as an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration.. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Elida, Ohio. A life member of the VFW Post 1275; a member of the Elks Lodge 54, Eagles Aerie #370 and American Legion Post 96.
Surviving are: two sons, Eric (Elfredia) Vazquez of Carolina, PR and Omar (Dalisa) Vazquez of Carolina, PR; a step-daughter, Cindy (Bruce) Moser of Columbus Grove, OH; six grandchildren, Samuel, Ana Isabel, Gustavo, Ben, Molly, and Rachel; two sisters, Isolina Garcia "Iso" Vazquez of San Juan, PR and Irma "Mima" Vazquez of San Juan, PR.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Ivan Vazquez and Rene Vazquez; a brother, Dr. Jose Vazquez.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 1, 2012, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 2, 2012 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Elida, Ohio with Rev. Paul Scannell officiating
