Jack Emerson Bice,
73. of Lima, Ohio died on Friday, November 16, 2012, at 11:20 A. M. at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
Born December 2, 1938 in Lima, Ohio, he was the son of the late Donald C. Bice and Dortha M. (Briggs) Bice-Lawson.
Jack married Mary Schmidt on September 24, 1966. She survives in Lima. He served two years in the United State Army. He was a custodian at Shawnee schools for 26 years and was called the "singing custodian" who loved to read to the kids and sing songs for them. He enjoyed singing in churches and various nursing homes and played Santa Clause for many years. He was a member of Lima Baptist Temple where he worked in the Pathfinder's class for over 30 years. He served as a deacon and was very involved in the music ministry. His children and grandchildren were his life!
Surviving are: four sons, Wesley Bice of South Dakota, Rodney (Jackie) Bice of Wapakoneta, OH; Kevin (Polly) Bice of Ft. Jennings, OH; and Jason (Stacey) Bice of Gomer, OH; a daughter, Kimberly Wilson of Cridersville, OH; seven grandchildren, Nina Bice, Josh Bice, Caleb Bice, Austin Bice, Tyler Wilson, Jordan Wilson, and Olivia Hall; six step-grandchildren, Brad, Aaron, Michael, Blake, Nate and Chelsey; three great step-grandchildren, Tanner, Aaron Jr., and Alliana; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael (Martha) Bice of Spencerville, OH and Leslie (Dennise) Bice of Gomer, OH; a sister-in-law, Carol Bice of Lima, OH; brother-in-law, Dennis (Keva) Schmidt of Michigan; sister-in-law Elaine Lewis of Lima, OH.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jacob Bice and a brother, Ronald Bice; a brother-in-law David Schmidt
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, November 18, 2012, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home and 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, November 19, 2012 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home and 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at the church
A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Lima Baptist Temple with the Pastor Gary Hohman officiating. Military honors will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 1275.
