Jack D. Coon,
84 of Lima, Ohio died on Thursday, December 8, 2011, at Baton Rouge Senior Health Facility in Lima, Ohio.
Born Wednesday, April 13, 1927 in Lima, Ohio, he was the son of the late Roy D. Coon and the late Bessie F. Fowler Coon.
He retired from the Huntington Bank after 30 years of service.
Jack married Joan on January 30 1949, in Lima, Ohio. She survives. He served in the Navy during WWII from July 1, 1944 to June 11, 1946. He was a life member of the VFW Post 1275; member of the BPOE #54 and the YMCA. He was a member of the American Bowling Association where he had served as both treasurer and secretary at different times. He was the first inductee of the Lima bowling Hall of Fame. He was a National doubles champion in bowling and was also a second place winner for state singles. He enjoyed listing to music, was an avid Ohio State Buckeye Fan, and loved playing golf. In his retirement he worked at Hawthorn Hills Golf Course. In his younger years Jack enjoyed playing softball. Jack loved his pet dogs.
Surviving are sons, Kurt D. (Lori) Coon of Lima, OH and Jack (Deborah) Coon of Lima, OH, daughter, Cheryl Coon-Graham of Lima, OH; Fifteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; brothers, Roy (Sue) Coon of Lima, OH, Dick (Marlene) Coon of Lima, OH and Charles Coon of Lima, OH, sister, Alice Hullinger of AZ.
He was predeceased by brother, Bob Coon, sister, Virginia Moler, and a nephew, Greg Coon.
A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Tisch officiating. VFW Graveside Service will be conducted by Post 1275
Interment will be in Shawnee Cemetery, Shawnee, OH.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, December 11, 2011, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
