Jack Hill

Jack E. Hill,45,died at 9 a.m. May 13, 2009, at his residence. He was born March 16, 1964, in Lima, Ohio, to Jack and Ladonna Sellers Hill Jr., who survive in Lima, Ohio. On Nov. 13, 2007, he married Michelle Grenig Hill, who survives. Mr. Hill was a 1982 graduate of Elida High School and a 2000 graduate of Rhodes State College, where he earned an associate degree in design engineering technology. He was past president of Chapter 97 of Society of Manufacturing Engineers of Lima. He was a member of Tau Alpha Pi Honor Society of Engineering Technicians and a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics Association. He was a member of his local SME chapter, and worked and retired after 11 years from James A. Rhodes State College in August 2007 as an engineering tech. He worked for 23 years for Shawnee Optical as a licensed dispensing optician. He loved building and collecting model cars, trains, planes, and anything he could get his hands on. He will be truly missed by his loving wife, who has cared for him since he became ill with ALS. Survivors also include two sisters, Leslie (Nick) Huber, of Lima, Ohio, and Lisa (Bruce) Hill-Fried, of Arlington, Virginia; father and mother in-law, Richard and Rosemary Grenig, of Garfield Heights, Ohio; dear friends Tim and Laura Freed and Dave Bean, all of Elida, Ohio; a godson Alex Freed; two nephews; two great-nieces; and several brothers and sisters-in-law, uncles, cousins and friends. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. David Brown, evangelist Mike Hartman, and brother in Christ Bob Kuhlman will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be to the family for various charities of their choice. He would like to thank all who came to his call when he needed assistance, and wants all of you to know that he lived his last years to the fullest.
