JACOB J. "JACK" LOGGI, 78, died at 6:30 a.m. March 8, 2006, at St. Rita's Medical Center, surrounded by his family, following an extended illness. He was born May 21, 1927, in Lima, Ohio to Anthony and Mary Ciminillo Loggi, who preceded him in death. On October 6, 1945, he married Gloria Mauch, who died in 1968. In October 1970, he married Claire Butler, who died May 11, 1980. Mr. Loggi retired in 1985 as assistant safety director from the Lima division of Sohio Chemical, where he worked for more than 25 years. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. He was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370 and CIAO. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 and American Legion Post 96, where he had served as commander. He was a member of the Monica Stevens Singers, which performed at various nursing homes. He was a 1945 graduate of St. John's High School. He was an Army veteran serving from July 6, 1945, to August 30, 1947. He was an avid golfer and avid card player, playing in various area card clubs. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Survivors include a son, Mark A. Loggi of Lima, Ohio; four daughters, Jacqueline A. "Jackie" (Don) Young, Linda M. McGraw and Susan K. (Mike) McKinley, all of Lima, Ohio, and Mary N. (Edward) Siska of Tampa, Florida; a sister, Michaeline Werling of Lima, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Brian (Jodi) Young, Gloria Young, Stephen (Letitia) Young, Lesa (Jim) Brown, Michael (Mandi) McGraw, Melissa (Mike) Glovak and Justin Benjamin "B.J." McKinley; 11 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Karns, Alexxa, Samantha, Olivia, Trey, Tyler and Jordan Young, Sean, Hayden and Hunter McGraw and Aaron Brown; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John B. McGraw; and an infant grandson, John J. McGraw. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Charles Catholic Church. The Rev. David Ritchie will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 1275. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.
