Jacqueline S. Haight

December 28, 1933 — April 21, 2016

Jacqueline S. Haight,
Our precious, Jacqueline (Jackie) Sue Haight, was welcomed into heaven on Thursday, April 21st, 2016 in Lima, Ohio at age 82.
Jackie was born on December 28th, 1933 in Van Wert, Ohio. She was born with cerebral palsy but it never stopped her from playing with her two sisters, Dorothy and Saundra. She adored them. In later years, she used her cane and walked alongside her sisters' children while they rode their bikes. They loved the way she cared for them.
When Jackie was 34, her family members became gray shadows. She later lost all her vision. Jackie's loss of sight did not break her joyful spirit or stop her from doing household chores while caring for her nieces and nephews. Jackie loved to laugh. She enjoyed playing, "Guess Who I Am" with the kids and without anyone speaking she would guess their names every time. She had an excellent memory. She knew everyone's birthday and it gave her great joy to give gifts. She made most of them in her art classes. Each of us remembers one special gift Jackie made. It was a potholder she created using a loom, her one hand and her teeth. That is just one example of the love she gave to her family.
As her body continued to grow weak, Jackie daily leaned on God and was determined to keep walking and be active as long as possible. After a while, she began to need assistance while using her cane. Years later, when she could no longer walk, she still found ways to have fun. She spent time going to her families' homes and having dinner. When she lived at her own apartment, it would make her day to get company.
Many people in the Lima area knew Jackie. Once you met her, you would never forget her. She was such a trooper in dealing with all her struggles. She had lots of friends. She loved to spend time with her close friend, Angie. She went shopping with her friend, Jill, and enjoyed rooting for The Ohio State Buckeyes with her dear friends, Dave and Barbara. When visiting Jackie, our goal was to be a blessing to her but we always walked away with the bigger blessing. She loved people and she could be ornery with the best of them. Jackie was always up for playing a good game. One of her favorites was Yahtzee. It was a joy to hear her get tickled when she won. She sure loved to laugh. Jackie kept active by attending Marimor MDD where she participated in various tasks in the senior division and performed in The Bell Choir. She was a member of The Allen County Starlight Club and Eagle's Club. She also enjoyed her Saturday morning bowling league and listening to her music and books on tape. Jackie loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a member of Lima Baptist Temple. Her favorite hymn was "Jesus Loves Me."
Jackie is preceded in death by: (her mother) Harriett Holmes, (her father) Malond Haight, (her nephew) James Michael Campbell, ( her niece) Paula Pitchford, (her great nephew) Bobby Campbell, (her great niece) Cebrina Watts, (her sister) Saundra Brohard, (her nephew) Bryan Pitchford, and (her nephew) (Don) Dye.
Jackie left a beautiful legacy. She taught us about patience and perseverance but, mostly how to love one another as Christ loves us.
Jackie is survived by: Her beloved sister, Dorothy & (Harold) Pitchford; nieces and nephews: Dan & (Cheryl) Campbell, Steve & (Bonnie) Campbell, Linda Julian, Lisa Dye, Marianna & (Tracy) Watts, Claudia & (Jack) Maram, Pam & (Jeremy) Mills and Robin Robbins; great nieces and nephews: Michele & (Gerald), Michael & (Crystal), Chad, Shannon B., Shannon & (Aaron), Derek , Jessica & (Justin), Scott & (Amber), Tina & (Cody), James & (Crystal), Tiffany & (Kevin), Katrina , Ciarra, Cody W., Jacob , Jennifer , Bryan Lee, Bradley, Jeremy, Brandon, Marisa, Raina, Amaris, Danielle, Jaden and Preston; great, great nieces and nephews: Toni, Tanesha, Jalen, Jamir, Kayla, Ariel, Jayda, Myka, Madisson, Daniel, Layton, Marcus, Mitchell, Dystiny, Candaci, Courtney, A'Ray, Andrew, Joshua, Thomas, Brittany, Tiarra, Jada, James, Alexis, Britton, Jordan, Jayden, Kevin Jr., Andrea, Brooklyn, Elijah, Kadelynn, Annamari, Jaxson, Madi, and Brody; great, great, great nieces and nephews: Josiah, Aliyah, Kalila, Savannah, Aubrey, Ava, Zuriel, Zavier, Adalena, Nicholas, and Auben.
