83 of Lima, Ohio died on Sunday, April 15, 2012, at 5:45 p.m.at his residence in Elida, Ohio.
Born Monday, September 24, 1928 in Lima, Ohio, he was the son of the late Colby P. Allen and Mary Margaret Miller Allen.
He was employed by Ford Motor Company.
James married Jenny Donisi on May 1, 1953 in Middletown, Ohio; she preceded him in death in 1993. He had married Beverly Powers on August 23, 1994, she preceded him in death in 2002.He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from October 20, 1950 to August 15, 1952. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 54 of Lima, and of the Knights of Columbus. He was an active member of Lima Central Catholic Athletic Boosters, and was an avid bridge player and golfer. He enjoyed spending time with family.
Surviving are sons, Christopher (Elizabeth) Allen of Lima, OH and Mark Allen of San Jose, CA, daughter, Amy (Alan) Chafin of Lima, OH; a grandson, Justin Hertel; stepchildren, Jane (Tom) Clark, Ginny (Mark) Clemente, Karen (Robbe) Bluestein, Jeff (Diana) Powers; step grandchildren, Rachael, Eliza, Carrie, Chris, Brooke; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sister, Mary Lou Miller.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at St. Charles Catholic Church with the Father Stephen Blum officiating.
Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, OH, with a graveside Military Service conducted by VFW Post 1275.
