James R. Boyed, 69 died on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Dayton VA Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.
Born Thursday, December 18, 1941, he was the son of the late Ray Boyed and the late Hazel Boyed.
Mr. Boyed graduated from Lima Senior High School in 1959, served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1962, and worked as a machinist at Teledyne Ohio Steel for many years. He was a staunch union activist and worked hard for the rights of his fellow workers.
He was also an avid golfer, poker player and the greatest ever teller of tales. He was a mentor to his family showing us how to live and how to die with equal courage. His personality and love of life rewarded him with many friends who I am sure will attest that he died the way he lived, cloaked in the love of family and friends. His cup was full! -- He shared it freely! -- He drank his fill! God Rest His Soul!
His remains have been donated to Wright State University for medical research.
Surviving are son, Brian (Ellen) Boyed and two beloved grandchildren, Katelyn and Braedon of Columbus, OH, sisters, Jean (Lance) Prine, Kay (Tim) Andrews and Betty (Denny) Pierce and sister-in-law Karen (Bill) Boyed.
