James F. Counts

James F. Counts, 90, passed away at 10:10 p.m. on April 15, 2023, at Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice, Bonita Springs, FL.

James was born on November 29, 1932, in Lima, Ohio, to Russell and Martha Irene (Whitmore) Benton. On June 17, 1952, he married Nancy L. (Hawisher) Counts, who preceded him in death.

Jim liked to boat, fish, and sit at the pool with his rum and dum. He enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids, and friends.  Jim was a former member of South Side Christian Church.

He is survived by his children: Stephen (Fawn) Counts, Mark (April) Counts, and Dean (Alison Sims) Counts; grandchildren: Brady (Tina) Counts, Casey (Kelley) Counts, Kaeleigh Counts, and Jenna Counts; and great-grandchildren: Taylor Counts, Lauren Counts, Cooper Counts, Caden Counts, and Lincoln Counts.  He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio.  A funeral service will follow at 12 p.m.  Rev. Todd Cosart will officiate.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to South Side Christian Church or Hospice.
