James Ehresman

June 25, 1943 — January 23, 2008

James Lee "Jim" Ehresman, 64, died at 7 p.m. Jan. 23, 2008, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born June 25, 1943, in Bloomington, Ill., to William and Josephine Thompson Ehresman. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives in Elida. On June 12, 1965, he married Jacqueline J. "Jackie" Black, who survives in Lima. Mr. Ehresman was a teacher at Bath schools for 38 years, where he was a track and field coach for 32 years, head coach for cross country for three years, assistant football coach for 20 years and head coach for football for five years. He was also a bus driver at Bath for 38 years, so he knew the kids from the time they were small until the time some of them played sports for him. He had also taught at Elida schools for a short time. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher. He was a member of the Ohio Education Association, the Ohio High School Football Association and the Ohio Association of Public School Employees. He was a 1961 graduate of Elida High School, received his bachelor's degree from Upper Iowa University, Fayette, Iowa, and his master's degree from St. Francis College, Fort Wayne, Ind. Survivors also include two sons, Timothy John (Lisa) Ehresman, of Omaha, Neb., and Matthew James Ehresman, of Wadsworth; a daughter, Mary Jo (Michael) Marcheschi, of Lovettsville, Va.; a sister, Marian (Marvin) March, of Defiance; five grandchildren, Zachary Ehresman, Tyler Ehresman, Ryan Ehresman, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Marcheschi and Joseph Marcheschi; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Pastor Michael A. Phillips will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today and Sunday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
