James W. Houston,
age 87 of Elida, Ohio, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family and Pookie (his cat) on Sunday, December 4, 2011.
Born Monday, April 21, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Robert Houston and the late Helen Folkerts Houston.
He was the Chief of Production for the Department of Defense at General Dynamics and retired in 1984.
He married Shirley K. French on January 26, 1980. She survives in Elida. He served in the Army from 1942 until 1946 and was a Veteran of World War II. He was head of his Navy reunion, Wooster V-5 Navy-Air.
He was a member of St. Rose's Catholic Church; a life member of the VFW 1275 and life member of the Elks-Lima.
Surviving is a son, James (Corrinna) Houston of Ft. Worth, TX, daughters, Theresa (Maurie) Misner of Montgomery, IL., Virginia M. (Bernard) Moore of San Francisco, California, Mary F. (Steve) Hazlett of Ocqueoc, MI., and Kathleen A. (Kamal) Gaddah of Canal Winchester OH, brother, Francis Houston of Toledo, OH; two step sons, Lee (Connie) Schmitz, Jr. of Columbus, Ohio and Royce L. (Heather) Schmitz of San Antonio, TX., a step daughter, Tammy L. (Mike) Butt of Lima, Ohio, 15 grand children, 9 great grandchildren, 1 niece and 3 nephews.
Visitation will be: Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Rosary Service at 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home on Thursday.
Mass of Christian Burial will be: Friday, December 9, 2011 at St. Rose Catholic Church at 11:00 A.M..

Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, OH. A military service will be conducted by the VFW Post 1275.
