James L. Britt

85, died at 6:00 AM on Friday July 27, 2018, at Dublin Assisted Living in Dublin, Ohio.

Jim was born on January 21, 1933, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Irwin Lee  Britt  and Helen M. (Cox) Britt.  He is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Betty J. (Decker) Britt of Dublin, OH, whom he married on April 7, 1957.

Jim graduated from St. Rose High School in 1952. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955.  In 1994, he earned his associate’s degree in business from Northwestern College. He retired from the University of Northwestern Ohio where he taught brakes and suspension in the Automotive Technology Department.  Previously, he was the manager of the J.C. Penney Auto Center for many years. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Eagles Aerie Post #370. He was an avid bridge player.

He is survived by his children,  Michael (Lori) Britt, of Dublin, OH, Patrick (Brenda) Britt, of Lima, OH, Joan (Mark) Jordan, of Dublin, OH, Timothy (Karla) Britt, of Austin, TX, Kathleen (Steve) Conkel, of Westerville, OH, Mary (Steve) Sciranka, of Elida, OH,  Gregory (Anastasia) Britt, of Powell, OH, Laura (Darrell) Miller, of Medina, OH; twenty grandchildren, Ryan Britt, Michelle (Zach) Riley, Lisa (Byron) Pohlman, Heather Britt, Ashlee Britt, Dr. Zach (Dr. Allison) Jordan, Alexander Jordan, Jim, Robert and Daniel Britt, Kelly, Christopher, and Cole Conkel, Spencer and Anna Sciranka, Taylor and Parker Britt, Forrest and Fallon Miller; three great grandchildren, Brayden, Braxton and Brielle; and several nieces and nephews and one cousin Mary Helen Yost.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio. Parish wake will be conducted at 8:00 P.M.

A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at St. Rose Catholic Church, Lima, OH.   Father David Ross will officiate.

Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, Ohio. Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 1275.
