James A. McPheron

92, died at 11:45 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home in Lima, Ohio.

James was born on August 9, 1926, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Perry McPheron and Josephine (Caskey) McPheron.  On Saturday, August 30, 1947, in St. Rose church he married Catherine (Garner) McPheron, she survives in Lima.

James was a loving husband and father.   He was a United States Army Veteran during WWII. He was the sales manager for BLH, and then Clark Equipment for over 40 plus years. He was a member of St. Gerard’s Catholic Church and an avid golfer and life member of the VFW, KOFC, and a coach and referee at the CYO Basketball at St. John's. He played in the State Baskeball Championship in 1944. In 2015 he was honored by Lima Central Catholic for the Wall of Fame for his athletic achievement.

He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Vandivier, of Centerville, OH, and Mary Fredericks, of Centerville, OH; a two sons, Tom (Janet) McPheron, of Lima, OH, and James McPheron, Jr., Lima, OH, four grandchildren,  Benjamin McPheron, Julie Joseph,  Robert Vandivier, and Jennifer Barker; and eight great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Janet Murphy, Lima, OH.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael James McPheron.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, October 22, 2018 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio. Prayers will be said at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday before going to the church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 St. Gerard’s Catholic Church, Lima, OH.

Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, Ohio. Military graveside service will be conducted by VFW Post 1275.
