James E. Moore, known affectionately as Jim, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on October 18, 2024, at the age of 69.
Born on March 14, 1955, in Lima, Ohio, Jim was a beacon of joy and laughter to all who knew him. Jim graduated from Lima Senior High in 1974 and dedicated 33 years of service to ABF Trucking before retiring. His retirement years were filled with the same enthusiasm and zest for life he was known for, famously remarking that every day is Saturday- a philosophy that encouraged many to embrace each day fully.
Jim’s life was rich with the love of his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Moore; children, Rebecca, James, and Richard; grandchildren, Trey, Austin, Alysa, Desirae, and Parker; great-grandchildren, Elias, Carolyn, Ezra, and baby Jay; and siblings, Bob (Diane), John (Karen), and Jack (April). He also leaves behind a host of brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Moore; his sister, Penny; and his grandson, Kyler.
A man of many interests, Jim loved entertaining, cooking, camping, and traveling. His stories of childhood adventures with his siblings and neighborhood friends, who became lifelong companions, were a source of joy and nostalgia.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on November 3, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Lima Moose Lodge at 2929 N. West St. Jim’s infectious spirit and easygoing nature will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the memories of those who loved him.
