James Russell Winslow,

80, passed away at 5 AM on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home in Lima, Ohio.

James was born on Sunday, January 17, 1937, in Rushville, Indiana, to Ralph and Claribel (Sipe) Winslow. On Monday, July 25, 1960, he married Ruth Stine who survives in Lima.

James served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1959. He previously worked at American Budget then retired from the Indianapolis Speedway as a Safety Director. His favorite hobby was racing and was a race photographer. He enjoyed hiking, biking and camping. He was a member of the Lima Youth Hostel and Lima Exchange Club where he was a past president. He was a volunteer at the Allen County Humane Society.

He is survived by: daughter, Melissa Rice, Carmel, IN; sons, Anthony (Cynthia) Winslow, Columbus and David (Tami) Winslow, Ottawa; six grandchildren, Jennifer Winslow, Stephanie Winslow, Stephen Strayer, Nicholas Strayer, Jessa Strayer and James Michael Winslow; great grandchildren, Jason Boggs, Courtney Winslow and Anthony James Winslow.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Sipe Winslow and a sister, Susan Winslow.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 PM on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.

A memorial service will begin at 3 PM on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio. Rev. Dottie Kaiser will officiate.
