James G. Zerante

James G. Zerante, 59, passed away at 7:15 a.m. on Friday, August 19, 2022, at his home in Lima.  James was born on June 2, 1963 in Lima, Ohio, to Charles and Barbara (Cottrell) Zerante.

James was a 1981 graduate of Shawnee High School, and also graduated from Apollo in Law Enforcement.  He retired from the Allen County Sheriff’s Dept. in 2006 and was a former policeman for Ft. Shawnee.  James was a member of the Moose Lodge #199.  He was a die-hard Cincinnati Reds fan and enjoyed fishing, cooking and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his partner, Laura Cohen of Lima; sons, Justin (Shannan) Zerante of Columbus and James (Meagan) Zerante of Toledo; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; bonus daughter, Lauren (Will) Burwell of Columbus; brother, Raye (Tami) Zerante of  Cairo; sisters, Beverly (Mark) Romer of Cincinnati and Lisa (Tad) Yeatter of Ft. Myers, FL.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
