Janet Strohl Barton

Janet Louise Strohl Barton 68, died at 12:55 p.m. October 17, 2007, at Lima Manor Nursing Home. She was born December 18, 1938, in Lima, Ohio to Calvin and Alta Sroufe Strohl, who preceded her in death. On January 25, 1958, in Angola, Indian, she married John R. Barton, who died in February 2002. Mrs. Barton had been a secretary and bookkeeper for area accounting firms. She was a member of South Side Christian Church. She had been a member of Iota Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Psi Sorority. She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370 Auxiliary and Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54 Auxiliary. She was a 1956 graduate of Lima Senior High School. She loved the Buckeyes and her puppies, Lee and Bart. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include three daughters, Cheryl (Cole) Gerstner, of Zanesville, Ohio, Shelley (Tim) Thines, of Findlay, Ohio, and Sharon (Steven) Carr, of Lima, Ohio; five grandchildren, Terra (Matt) Williamowski, Hannah Gerstner, Anthony Thines, Tyler Thines and Elizabeth Carr; and a brother, Robert (Barbara) Strohl, of Brooksville, Florida. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas Adams will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Lima Senior Scholarship Fund, St. Rita?s Hospice or South Side Christian Church.
