Jean Brenneman

Jean D. Brenneman 82, died at 7:50 a.m. February 9, 2010, at The Ridge at Shawnee. She was born January 18, 1928, in Columbus, Ohio to John D. and Zelma Stewart Yant, who preceded her in death. On April 21, 1946, she married Simon P. Brenneman, who died February 9, 2005. Mrs. Brenneman was a member of Lima Community Church of the Nazarene. She was a member of the Lima Board of Realtors and the Ohio Auctioneers Association. She was known for her beautiful handiwork of crocheting afghans and knitting, and for writing four books and a play. She designed four of the family?s homes and had also designed several other homes in the Lima area. She had been valedictorian of her class. She later received her Realtor?s license and helped her husband in his real estate office and auction house for several years. Survivors include two sons, Thomas L. (Dorothy) Brenneman, of Canby, Oregon, and Dr. James B. (Sharon) Brenneman, of Lima, Ohio; two daughters, Sally J. (Dr. George) Oyer, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Tesa A. (Lee) Jordan, of Zanesfield, Ohio; a sister, Betty Kittle, of Las Cruces, N.Mexico; seven grandchildren, Heather (Abel Amador III) Brenneman, Kari (Dan) Ferguson, Aaron (Nicole) Brenneman, Abigail Oyer, Nicole (Roby) Reeder, Leah (Gideon) Foster and Anna Oyer; four great-grandchildren, Madison, Killian, Wyatt and Nico; several nieces and nephews; and extended family, Robin Garn, of Germany, Nise Manicardi, of Brazil, and Atsko Amao, of New York City. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Sullivan and Mary J. Tuttle. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Tim Thurston will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Mennonite Cemetery, Elida. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Lions Club International.
