Jean Brookman

Jean Brookman, 72, died at 4:20 p.m. Jan. 21, 2009, at St. Rita?s Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 7, 1936, in Cloverdale to Leonard and Verena Brinkman Martin, who preceded her in death. On April 11 1959, she married John C. Brookman, who survives in Lima. Mrs. Brookman was a homemaker and had assisted with the family painting business. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic minister and volunteer and had been a member of its Altar Rosary Society where she had served as president. She was a member of LaSertoma, where she had served as president, she was the Sertoma woman of the year twice. She was also a member of ALCO Sertoma. She was a graduate of Fort Jennings High School. She enjoyed crafts, was a huge animal lover, but more than anything, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors also include two sons, Timothy (Theresa) Brookman, of New Knoxville, and Dale (Lori) Brookman, of Elida; two daughters, Cheryl (Theodore) Kaser, of Lima, and Tina (Bill) Mrukowski, of Hilliard; nine grandchildren, Nathan Kaser, Gene Kaser, Kate Kaser, Marissa Mrukowski, Daniel Brookman, Stephanie Brookman Gross, of Lima, Nicholas Brookman, Kane Brookman and Trevor Brookman; two sisters, Dolly (Dan) Blankemeyer, of Columbus Grove, and Lenore (Don) Schroeder, of Leipsic; and a brother-inlaw, Willie Huffman. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Huffman and Middy (Tom) Stechschulte; and a brother, Donald Martin. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Rose Catholic Church. Father David Ross will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rose Catholic Church.
