Jean Ann Gross-Patton, 57, died at 1:08 a.m. August 4, 2008, at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born February 15, 1951, in Lima, Ohio to Robert E. and Louise Bowers Gross Sr. Her father preceded her in death. Her mother survives. Ms. Gross-Patton was a detention officer at the Juvenile Detention Center and had worked at Head Start and Allen Acres. She was a life member of St. Gerard Catholic Church. She was a graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School and attended James A. Rhodes College. She enjoyed spending time with her grandson, who was the joy of her life. She also enjoyed working with and was a supporter of the American Cancer Society, where she was a participant in the Relay for Life. She was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the University of Michigan Wolverines. Survivors also include a son, James A. McElroy, of Lima, Ohio; a grandson, Wyatt James McElroy; and five siblings, Robert E. (Nancy) Gross Jr., of Lima, Ohio, Elizabeth (Joseph Jr.) Stein, of Tiffin, Ohio, and James H. (Debra) Gross, Rick (Kris) Gross and Dennis (Lisa) Gross, all of Lima, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Angel McElroy. Memorial services will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Father George Blasick will officiate.
