Jerrold C. "Jerry" Welker
72, died at 12:00 AM on Friday, October 17, 2014, at his residence in Cridersville, Ohio.
Jerry was born on June 4, 1942, in Sugar Creek Twp., Allen Co., Ohio, to the late Clair Welker and Goldie (Shingledecker) Welker.
On April 30, 1967 Jerry married Linda Striff. They were married 21 years. In June of 1990 he married Polly A. Quickle who survives in Cridersville. He was a United States Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Jerry retired from Westinghouse after 31 years. He also was a truck driver for Express Trucking in 2005. He was a member of the American Legion #191, the Sons of the American Legion #191 (and was a Past Commander), 40 and 8, the Veterans of Foreign Wars #6772 and their Clown Unit in Spencerville, Ohio; and the Westside Lions Club. He was a member of the Tin Can Soldiers Association and the Myles C. Fox DD829 Association. He was a die-hard Browns and Buckeyes fan. He was a member of several Masonic organizations, including Fort Amanda Lodge #706 F. & A. M., Lima Chapter #49 Royal Arch Masons, Lima Council #20 Royal & Select Masons, and Shawnee Commandery #14, Knights Templer. He was a 32nd degree member of Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite-Valley of Dayton. He also was a member of the Allentown United Methodist Church, Allentown, Ohio.
He is survived by: two daughters, Christina (Jason) Stombaugh, and Tonia Cotrell; two step daughters, Cassandra Jarman, Dawne Brown, and step son Ferris ( Amber) Brown; eleven grandchildren;five great grandchildren; a brother Thomas (Jackie) Welker, of Columbus, OH; two half sisters, Linda Battel, and Charlotte Westbay, and Aunt Ruth Conkle of Lima and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday, October 20, 2014 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio, followed by a Masonic and Scottish Rite Ring Service at 8:00 P.M.
A funeral service will begin at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, OH. Pastor Rosie Lora will officiate. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 191 and VFW Post 6772.
