Jessie Griffith

Jessie Griffith, 102, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at her daughter’s home in Lima surrounded by her family.

Jessie was born on June 13,1921, in Louisa, Kentucky, to the late Lyman and Sophia (Stone) Jones.  On January 31, 1948, she married her beloved Ruben Griffith Jr., who preceded her in death on February 16, 2007, after 59 years of marriage.

Jessie had worked at D.G. Dunn, Westinghouse as well as other factories in Lima when she was young. She was a hard worker, an excellent seamstress and cook. Jessie above all loved her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Wilma (Duane) Bowers and Betty Duddy, both of Lima; grandchildren: Adam (Corie) Bowers, Sarah (Russell) Patterson, Samantha Duddy, Vicki (Roland) Drinkwater, Charlotte (Mauerio) Daniel, and Melissa Duddy; great-grandchildren: Raven Bowers, Griffin Bowers, Addie Wilver, Sierra Dahal, Nathan Swem, and Ruben Patterson.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Oscar (Esther) Jones & Clyde (Karen) Jones, a sister Opal (Jim) Slone and a son-in-law Ed Duddy.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.  The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio.  Rev. Todd Cosart will officiate.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
