Joan Corwin

Joan K. Corwin, 73, died at 1:48 p.m. August 27, 2010, at Lima Convalescent Home. She was born August 16, 1937, in Lima, Ohio to Elver and Mildred Bachellor Darling, who preceded her in death. On March 1, 1958, in Lima, Ohio she married Eugene W. ?Gene? Corwin, who survives in Lima. Mrs. Corwin retired from St. Rita?s Medical Center after 26 years. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and the Beta Omega Sorority-Sigma Beta Chapter. After retiring, she was a volunteer at St. Rita?s. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of a monthly card club and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors also include two daughters, Julie Sunderland and Gwen (Terry) Stump, both of Lima, Ohio; three sons, Doug (Genean) Corwin, of Lima, Ohio; Daniel (Laura) Corwin, of Fort Walton Beach, Flofida; and David Corwin, of Lima, Ohio; a brother, Herb (Ann) Darling, of Indianapolis; and 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Tom Sunderland; and a sister, Virginia Reese. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Rose Catholic Church. The Rev. David Ross will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a parish wake service will begin at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer?s Association of West Central Ohio, 892 S.
