Joanne Y. Hemenway

Joanne Hemenway, 95, of Lima, went to be with the Lord on December 31, 2024 at the Meadows of Ottawa. She was born on April 19, 1929 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Leo Berryhill and Gertrude {Ayers} Berryhill-Carr.

On January 8, 1948, she married Billy Lee Hemenway, who preceded her in death in 2003. Joanne was a devout Christian who loved her Lord above all else and was always worshipping the Lord. She was a lifelong artist and a Bible study teacher. She was a loving mother and truly enjoyed life to the fullest.

She is survived by her children: Jerry (Dorrie Thompson) Hemenway, Thomas (Lori Ann) Hemenway, Leah (Michael) Bryan, Jennifer (Thomas) Cartwright, and Erik (Tammy) Baughman; grandchildren: Jared (Emily), Justin, Jill (Eric), Kate, Josh, Sonya, Kina, Dustin (Jennifer), Amanda (Brad), Jason (Jessica), Travis (Mary), Jonathan, Lauren (Claude), and Erin (Logan); and 25 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband Billy, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Virginia (Robert) Routson, Vancine (Bob) Placie, and Wanda (Michael) Winter; half-brother, Jack Berryhill; and stepfather, Lloyd Carr.

Her family will receive friends on Friday, January 3, 2025 from 4 - 7 p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the funeral home. Friends may also visit 1 hour prior to the funeral from 10-11 a.m. Rev. Tom Brown will officiate. Burial to follow at Vaughnsville Cemetery, Vaughnsville, Ohio.
