28, died at 6:45 PM on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at his residence in Lima, Ohio.
Joel Michael was born on August 29, 1985, in Lima, Ohio, to David Tegenkamp and Diane (Duffy) Tegenkamp of Lima.
Joel was a 2004 graduate of Delphos St. Johns. He had previously worked for Goodwill Industries. Despite his personal struggles with his own mental illness he still reached out to others to try and help those who were struggling too. He will always be remembered for his caring and generous spirit.
He is survived by: two sisters, Alicia Tegenkamp, of Elida, OH, and Emily Tegenkamp, of Chicago, IL; maternal grandmother, Rose Marie Duffy, of Lima, OH; special friend, Martha Sisson, of Columbus Grove, OH; four nephews, Steven Suever, Alex East, Caden East, and Zach East; and his beloved dog, Riley.
He was preceded in death by: paternal grandparents, John & Charmain "Charm" Tegenkamp and maternal grandfather, Charles Duffy.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A funeral service will begin at 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, OH. with Pastor Jim Loescher officiating.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) , 1225 Dublin Rd. #125, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
