John "Jack" Baumgardner,
66 of Elida, Ohio died on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio in Lima, Ohio.
Born Wednesday, July 11, 1945 in Lima, Ohio, he was the son of the late John C. Baumgardner. Bettie Ayers Baumgardner survives in Lima. He was the husband of Sonja Mark Baumgardner.
He served in the Army from 1966 until 1969. He was a Veteran of Vietnam.
John married Sonja Mark on August 8, 1965, she survives. He was a Customer Service Engineer for Xerox Corporation retiring after 35 years. He was a member of the Central Christian Disciples of Christ. He was one of the founding members of the NWO Chapter of National Wild Turkey Federation, A member of the Eagles Aerie 370 Lima, He was an avid outdoorsman, loved to hunt and fish. He fought a courageous six month battle with cancer. He was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather and loved spending time with the grandchildren. He was an avid Ohio State, Cleveland Browns and Indians Fan.. He enjoyed boating and vacationing at the family cottage in Michigan. He had an outstanding sense of humor, enjoyed laughing and loved life.
Surviving are son, Brett (Christine Kemper) Baumgardner of Findlay, OH, daughter, Aubree (Mike) Kaye of Lima, OH, Four grandchildren, Dean Baumgardner, Lukas Kaye, Abigale Kaye, Elliott Kaye. Three special granddaughter, Samantha Ralston, Rachel Ralston, and Clara Ralston. A brother, James Baumgardner, sister, Barbara Crisp, and a sister-in-law Lisa Baumgardner.
He was predeceased by brother, Gregory (Kraut) Baumgardner.
A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Tisch officiating. Interment will be in Allentown Cemetery, Allentown, OH., with a military graveside service conducted by the VFW Post 1275
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, September 16, 2011, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home,
