JOHN D. CAMPBELL, Sr. 77, died at 12:10 a.m. April 1, 2007, at his residence. He was born May 1, 1929, in Lima, Ohio to John E. and Catherine Baumgardner Campbell, who preceded him in death. On December 17, 1963, he married Patricia A. Hull, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Campbell worked for Ex-Cell-O and direct sales for Amway. He was also a professional photographer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the occupational forces in Japan and during the Korean War. He was assigned to follow Gen. Douglas McArthur for several weeks as a photographer. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and attended St. Rose Catholic School. Survivors also include three sons, R. Mike Pitkin, of San Diego, California, Phillip "Buzzy" (Debbie) Pitkin, of Farmington, Wisconsin, and John D. Campbell Jr., of Lima, Ohio; five daughters, Deborah (Joseph) Pitkin-Kesner, of Monroeville, Linda (Gaylon) Pitkin-Rismiller, of Houston, Ohio, Patricia (T.J.) Campbell-Framak, of Elkhart, Indiana, Catherine Campbell-Howell, of Columbus Grove, Ohio, and Mary Angela (Jim) Campbell-Spurlock, of Richwood; a sister, Marianna Watkins, of Bellefontaine, Ohio; four brothers, James F. (Mickey) Campbell, of Winter Park, Florida, Robert D. Campbell, of Lima, Ohio, Thomas (Jean) Campbell, of Atlanta, and William (Donna) Campbell, of Dallas, Ga.; and 21 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Stewart E. Campbell. A private family service will be at the Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery in Dayton on Tuesday. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Putnam County Home Health.
