87 of Lima, Ohio died on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at 5:15 P.M. at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
Born Thursday, August 14, 1924 in Lima, Ohio, he was the son of the late Russell Early and the late Lucille Baker Early.
He retired from Montgomery Ward Department Store as the manager of the automotive parts department.
John married Betty Davis on October 6, 1946 in Delphos, Ohio, she survives in Lima. He attended Sugar Creek Church of the Brethern. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 96, Lima, Ohio. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Surviving are a son, Greg (Joyce) Early of Lima, OH, daughter, Deb (Mike) Griffo of Lima, OH; three grandchildren, Jason (Michelle) Early of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Tony Griffo of Urbana, Ohio and Nicholas (Kim Szucs) Griffo of Pittsburg, Pa; two great grandchildren, Ashlynn Early, and Tanner Early.
He was predeceased by brothers, Richard Early and Francis E. Early, Sr.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home with the Pastor Patricia Meeks officiating.
Interment will be in Sugar Creek Cemetery. Military Service conducted by VFW Post 1275 at the cemetery.
