John J. Fitzgerald, 85, of Lima, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the Springs of Lima. He was born on October 6, 1939, in Chicago, IL to the late John and Nellie {Markus} Fitzgerald.
On February 6, 1965, he married Connie Emehiser, who preceded him in death in 2017. John served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years during the Vietnam War. He was an engineer at Westinghouse, Honda, and Superior Coach. He was a member of Eagles Aerie #370, Moose Lodge, American Legion Post 96, and The Church at Allentown. John was the jack of all trades and could fix anything. He had a passion for art and drawing. He was known for being a prankster and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, but especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children: Timothy (Cindy) Fitzgerald of Kalida, Melissa (Dan) Burden of Lima, and Kelly Jarrell of Lima, grandchildren: Allison Fitzgerald, Adam Fitzgerald, Justin Burden, Ethan Jarrell, and Richemond Jarrell, 2 great-grandchildren, Kenzley, Kylen and sister: Cathy Goering.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson: Tyler Burden and his brother-in-law: Richard Goering.
Visitation is from 11:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum with a service following at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Neal Whitney will officiate.
