John "Jack" D. Frueh, Jr.,
69 of Elida, Ohio died on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at 6:10 P.M. at his residence.
Born Tuesday, May 18, 1943 in Lima, Ohio, he was the son of the late John D. Frueh, Sr. and the late Dorothea Frances (Lowery) Frueh.
Jack married Cordelia C. Yopp on June 6, 1964 in Plattsburgh, New York. She survives in Elida.
He was a graduate of Lima Central Catholic's Class of 1961. He retired from the Dana Corporation in 2008 after 35 years. He served in the United States Air Force, 380th Supply Squadron, Strategic Air Command, from June of 1961 to June of 1965 holding the rank of Airman First Class. He was a member of the St. Gerard Catholic Church; Men's Auxiliary of the VFW Post 1275 Lima serving on the Honor Detail and a volunteer at St. Rita's Medical Center. He enjoyed spending time in his workshop, doing various woodworking projects. He also enjoyed researching genealogy on his computer. Jack loved his grandchildren, and attending their many functions and activities.
Surviving are: three daughters, Lisa (Jerry) Gruber of Cibolo, TX, Stephanie (Moore) Lathrop of Weyers Cave, VA and Brenda (John) Dorner of St. Henry, OH; a son, John Frueh, III of Lima, OH; seven grandchildren, Jerry Gruber, Rob Gruber, Patrick Gruber, Nora Dorner, Mitchell Dorner, Jeff Frueh, Elizabeth Frueh; five sisters, Nancy (George) Wieging of Lima, OH, Mary Ellen (Ron) Staver of Lima, OH, Betsy (Tim) Potts of Elida, OH, Cindy (Ron) Freed of Lima, OH and Andrea (Don) Simpson of Toronto, OH.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Following visitation there will be a wake service at 8:00 P.M.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at the St. Gerard Catholic Church on Friday, September 14, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Jim Szobonya, C.Ss.R. officiating.
Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery with a VFW Military Service conducted by Post 1275.
