JOHN W. "JACK" HOLLIDAY, 81, died at 8:35 p.m. September 26, 2005, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home. He was born September 19, 1924, in Detroit, Michigan to John I. and Katherine Moynes Holliday, who preceded him in death. On October 19, 1946, he married Helen E. Dieling, who died February 21, 1984. On January 17, 1997, he married Janet Barrow, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Holliday retired as a supervisor from Fruehauf's, Delphos, after more than 25 years. Following his retirement he worked in the electrical department at Lowe's. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church. He had been a volunteer at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 and American Legion Post 96. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving as a salvage diver from January 12, 1943, to April 13, 1946. He was an avid golfer and loved to watch sports. Survivors also include nine grandchildren, Mick Bloomfield, Matt Bloomfield, Mark (Shari) Bloomfield and Missy (Richard) Kroeger, all of Findlay, Ohio, Steve Holliday of Jacksonville, Florida, Luke (Lee Ellen) Holliday, Pam (Ben) Wright and Bryan (Sarah) Holliday, all of Lima, Ohio, and Nicholas Holliday of Fort Wayne, Indiana; 11 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Michael (Linda) Bloomfield of Lima, Ohio. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Kathleen Bloomfield and Patricia Holliday; and a son, Michael Holliday. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Rose Catholic Church. The Rev. William J. Rose will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 1275. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
