John N. McKinney 66, died at 9:35 p.m. Sept. 21, 2007, at St. Rita?s Medical Center. He was born July 5, 1941, in Danville, Ky., to Clifford and Sarah Hilliard McKinney, who preceded him in death. On May 22, 1964, he married Catherine Johnson, who survives in Harrod. Mr. McKinney had been a stationary engineer at Oakwood Correctional Facility, Lima, and had been a pastor at several churches in Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and Vermont. He was a member of Lima Baptist Temple. He was a graduate of Preble/Shawnee High School and Baptist Bible College, Springfield, Mo. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes and Cincinnati Bengals. Survivors also include two sons, Pete (Cindy) McKinney, of Waynesfield, and Tim (Lisa) McKinney, of Steger, Ill; a sister, Norma George, of Oxford; a brother, Jim McKinney, of Middletown; and seven grandchildren. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. The Rev. David Clark will officiate. Burial will be in St. Matthew Cemetery, Lima. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or Lima Baptist Temple.
