John Morrisey

JOHN L. "JACK" MORRISEY, 66, died at 11:57 a.m. April 18, 2007, at his residence, following a two-year battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 20, 1941, in Lima to Walter J. and M. Lenore Meyer Morrisey. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives in Lima. On Sept. 12, 1964, he married Sandy Kimmet, who survives in Lima. They had been married for 42 years. Mr. Morrisey retired in 2000, from General Dynamics Tank Plant, after 20 years. He had also worked for the city of Lima. He attended St. Gerard Catholic Church, where he was a communicant, a reader and a devoted Catholic. He had served as treasurer of the Serra Club and on the American Township Zoning Board. He was an outgoing man and a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, who loved traveling, working in the yard, country dancing and his grandchildren. He also enjoyed his skills as a handyman and often utilized this talent to aid individuals and volunteer organizations. Survivors also include three daughters, Bonnie (Ned) Fledderjohann, of St. Marys, Cindy (Chuck) Bourne, of Wapakoneta, and Becky Morrisey Sivon, of Tipp City; three brothers, Dick (Sue) Morrisey, of Lima, and Bob (Phyl) Morrisey and Ed (Sally) Morrisey, both of Columbus; a sister, Maggie (John) Weis, of Columbus; three brothers-in-law, Don (Shirley) Kimmet, of Ottawa, Bob Kimmet, of Dayton, and Terry (Nyla) Kimmet, of Grafton, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Carol Ann Kimmet Westhaus, of Livonia, Mich., and Debbie (Gregg) Baumgartner, of Findlay; and four grandchildren, Hilary Bourne, John Bourne, Drew Sivon and Maddox Sivon. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Gerard Catholic Church. Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, where a parish wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday.
