John P. Sizemore, 94, died at 12:33 a.m. Sept. 23, 2010, at Lima Memorial Health System. He was born Nov. 27, 1915, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Thomas J. and Hettie Grey Sizemore, who preceded him in death. On Nov. 25, 1940, he married Mae Calhoun, who survives in Ada. Mr. Sizemore retired in 1978 as a welder from Rawls Brothers, Lima. He was a member of Alger Assembly of God, Alger. He enjoyed gardening and working in his workshop building beautiful wood furniture and crafts. He loved spending time with family and friends. Survivors include two daughters, JoAnn Brockman, of Wapakoneta, and Peggy Pitts, of Lima; two sons, Jay Sizemore, of Ada, and Charles Sizemore, of Harrod; and nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, two sisters and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gary Brockman; and a brother and four sisters. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Alger Assembly of God, Alger. Pastor Randy Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada. Memorial contributions may be made to Alger Assembly of God.
