John D. Windle Sr., 62, died at 11:15 a.m. Aug. 20, 2008, at his residence. He was born Oct. 9, 1945, in Allen County to Clyde V. and Florence Katen Windle, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 9, 1967, he married Naomi Jolliff, who survives in Lima. Mr. Windle retired in June 2007 as a custodian from Lima City Schools, having worked at North Middle and Horace Mann schools. He had also been an inspector for Rawls Tire Service. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370 and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 199. He enjoyed playing cards and watching The Ohio State University Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. He was a huge fan of Elvis Presley. He was an animal lover and loved his cats, Socks and Pumpkin. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors also include three sons, John (Dawn) Windle Jr., of Ada, Jeffrey (Laura) Mears, of Cridersville, and Mark Windle, of Columbus; a daughter, Jennifer (Bryan) Coppler, of Upper Sandusky; and 10 grandchildren, Jacob Windle, Joshua Windle and Ashley Windle, all of Wapakoneta, Cody Mattson and Austin Windle, both of Ada, Jessica Mears, Jennifer Mears and Kortinae Airey, all of Cridersville, and Louie Coppler and Katie Coppler, both of Upper Sandusky; a brother, Henry Windle, of Lima; two sisters, Mary (Bob) Ogle and Ruth Wireman, both of Lima; and a sister-in-law, Janet Windle, of Lima. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Windle; and a sister, Dorothy Keifer. Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Jon Spyker will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
