Johnnie Hughes

Johnnie Gene Hughes, 64, died at 11:54 p.m. Nov. 24, 2010, at his residence. He was born Nov. 23, 1946, in Lima, to John L. and Jean Livenspire Hughes. Mr. Hughes worked at General Dynamics. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 and the YMCA. He loved to golf and was an avid pool player. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. Survivors include a son, Nicholas S. Hughes of Lima; two daughters, Dawnn Renee Hughes-Harris of Lima and Shonda Hughes of Lima; ; three brothers, Denny (Tony) Hughes of Wapakoneta; Jerry Hughes of Lima and Rick (Peg) Hughes of Michigan; a sister, Pam (Thomas) Mack of Lima; five grandchildren; and long-time family friend and caregiver, Christine Rank. He was preceded in death by a sister, Cheryl R. Hughes and special aunt, Mary H. Livenspire. Services will begin at 6 p.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
