JOSEPH A. CAPRELLA, 82, died at 11:30 p.m. July 8, 2005, at his residence. He was born December 25, 1922, in Lima, Ohio to Matteo Caprella and Mary Valenti Caprella, who preceded him in death. On October 20, 1945, he married Glesna Coneby, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Caprella retired from the B&O/CSX Railroad as a conductor with more than 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church. He was a member and past president of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, Lima, American Legion Post 96, Lima, and Charitable Italian-American Organization (CIAO). He served in the U.S. Army from January 5, 1943, to November 3, 1950, and in the National Guard. Survivors include three sons, Andy (Ann) Caprella, Mike (Mary) Caprella, and Tom (Jackie) Caprella, all of Lima, Ohio; a daughter, Sue (Mike) Dew of Elida, Ohio; a sister, Mary Hardesty of Lima, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, Wendy Wirz, Gina McCabe, Andy Caprella Jr., Debbie Caprella, Joe Caprella, Tom Caprella, Cindy Caprella, Mike Caprella, Tony Caprella, Erik Caprella, A.J. Caprella, Mike Dew and Kevin Dew; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Carmen Caprilla, John Caprella and Samuel Caprella; and two sisters, Virginia Prenezio and Nicoline Ciminillo. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Gerard Catholic Church, Lima, Ohio. The Rev. George Blasick will officiate. Interment will be in Gethsemani Mausoleum with military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, where there will be a parish wake service at 8 p.m. Monday.
