JOSEPH G. "JOE" CARR, 72, died at 9:57 a.m. February 13, 2005, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born February 19, 1932, in Lima to William Emmet and Myrtle Olive Eley Carr, who preceded him in death. On September 29, 1950, he married Janet Shade, who survives in Lima. Mr. Carr was a painter with Howard Painting Co. and Union Local 1020, where he also had served as business agent. He was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, where he was a member of its choir and was active in all phases of the church. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Friday Night Industrial League at Northland Lanes. He was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54. He was an Air Force veteran serving from January 4, 1951, to December 1, 1954. He was an avid Buckeyes, Bengals and Reds fan. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Survivors also include six children, Gary (Karren) Carr and Cheryl (Dennis) Wolf, both of Lima, Steve (Cindy) Carr of Defiance and Julie (Frank) Wittkamp, Kevin (Cheryl) Carr and Nancy Owens, all of Lima; a brother, Tom (Betty Rose) Carr of Huntsville; two sisters, Darlene Schwaiger and Annabelle DeCurtains, both of Lima; and 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Carr; and four sisters, Violet Ream, Thelma Karson, Mildred Schaffter and Katie Taylor. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday St. Mark's United Methodist Church. The Rev. Howard Allison will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
