Joseph W. Hoover Jr.,

73, passed away at 3:25 PM on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.

Joseph was born on Monday, November 9, 1942, in Beaverdam, to the late Joseph W. Sr. and Arlene (Gullette) Hoover. On Saturday, January 18, 1975, he married Susan (Sholler) Hoover. He served six years as a Marine in Vietnam from 1960-1966.

Joseph worked at General Dynamics, Marathon Electric and retired from Warehouse Associates. He was a member of the American Legion Post 96, Eagles Airee #370 and a life member of the VFW #1275.

He is survived by: one daughter, Kandice (Tom) Burton, Lima; two sons, Ronald (Lisa) Hoover, Killeen, TX and Justin (Jessica) Hoover, Lima; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; one brother, Gene (Gloria) Hoover and a sister, Phyllis (Floyd) Dye.

He is preceded in death by: a son, Joey and grandson, D.J.; brothers, Roger Hoover, and Robert Badditcher and step mother, Ruth Hoover.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 PM on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.

A funeral service will begin at 3 PM on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Joe Compton Jr. will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 1275.
