Joseph W. Kinstle, 80, died at 4:28 a.m. August 16, 2010, at St. Rita?s Medical Center. He was born October 24, 1929, in Botkins, Ohio to Edwin and Alma Monger Kinstle, who preceded him in death. On May 29, 1965, in Lima, he married Betty Knight, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Kinstle retired from United Telephone Co., after 34 years. He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church. He drove cars for local car lots for dealer trades. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, American Legion Post 96, Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 54, where he played in its golf league, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370. He was a member of Hawthorne Country Club and the Korean Vets. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from June 29, 1951, to July 27, 1959. Survivors also include two brothers, Linus (Karen) Kinstle, of Wapakoneta, Ohio, and Fred (Rita) Kinstle, of Botkins, Ohio; a sister, Mary Riethman, of Anna, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Rosalee Rigali, of Lima, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred (Kathryn) Kinstle, Thomas Kinstle and Charles Kinstle; and three brothers-in-law, Clarence Riethman, Robert Rigali and Ralph (Lorraine) Ferguson. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Gerard Catholic Church. Father Joy Poonoly will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 1275.
