JOSEPH M. ?Turtle Joe? RIZOR, 69, died at 5:26 p.m. on June 28, 2010, at St. Rita?s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. He was born May 9, 1941, in Lima, Ohio, to Roy Melvin Rizor and Ava K. Patterson Rizor-Fisher. His father has preceded him in death. His mother survives in Lima, Ohio. He married Beverly Jean Applas, who has preceded him in death. On May 6, 1999, he married Donna L. Davidson Mann, who survives in Lima, Ohio. Mr. Rizor retired from Trinity Indus-tries. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. He enjoyed trapping turtles and collecting American Indian artifacts. He was very proud of his American Indian heritage. He attended the Assembly of God Church and Lima Community Church of the Nazarene. He was a life member of the Allen County Conservation Club and a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370. He was a caring gentle giant who loved spending time with family, friends, nieces and nephews. He was well known for walking around Lima. He will be missed by his friends at McDonald?s on Cable Road. Survivors also include a brother, Roy C. (Donna L.) Rizor Jr.; two sisters, Linda (Bob) Corbin, of Bradington, Florida, and Jawn (Jim) Hale, of Lima, Ohio; a half brother, John M. Rizor, of Kentucky; a half sister, Ella Mae (Brad) Blythe, of Lima, Ohio; three grandchildren; his stepmother, Freda Plaugher, of Lima, Ohio; 23 nephews, 16 nieces, 24 great-nephews 14 great-nieces; and two step-daughters, Debra (Dick) Brayton, of Lima, Ohio and Carla (Mike) Eilerman, of Lima, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Dale Fisher; a step-daughter, Dyana Spisso; a brother, David D. Rizor; a half-brother, Roy M. Rizor, I; and two nephews. Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio. Pastor J. Randy Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima, Ohio. Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 2, 2010 at the funeral home.
