Julia Pope

LIMA – Julia M. Pope, 82, of Lima, passed away on August 9, 2024 at Lima Memorial Hospital. She was born on November 1, 1941 to the late George and Velma (Schroeder) Pope. 

Julia will be missed by many friends that had the pleasure of working with her through the years. She was friendly, kind and helpful to those around her. Julia cared deeply for others and she made ‘your family, her family’ after only knowing her a short time. Julia rarely complained and was fiercely independent in her home and at work. Julia had six brothers: Charles Pope of Toledo, Raymond Pope of Columbus, Kenneth Pope of Pandora, Lewis Pope of Fremont, Dennis Pope of Columbus Grove and John Pope, who preceded her in death. She had five sisters: Rose Taylor of Findlay, Mary Pope of Ottawa and was preceded in death by Dorothy Crist of Rawson, Ruth Poole and Margaret Honigford. 

Julia attended Pandora Gilboa Local Schools in her elementary years. From 1986-1989, she worked at the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities as a Cafeteria Worker at Marimor School. She also worked at Burgundy’s restaurant and at Marimor Industries, until her retirement. Julia continued to be an active member of her community until her move to Lost Creek Care center in 2022. She continued to bless others with her loving heart even in her final days after a brief illness. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 12-2 p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, where a funeral will follow at 2 p.m. Pastor Ben Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima.
