Kathleen Hedrick, 67, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023, peacefully at her home in Lima.
Kathy was born on August 24, 1955, in Detroit, MI, to the late Robert and Loraine (Durand) Garee.
Kathy graduated from Lima Senior High School, then went on to earn her BSN/RN degree at Ohio State University at Lima. She began her career at Lima Memorial Hospital as a Labor & Delivery Nurse, before moving on to Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville, OH where she retired in 2017.
Kathy’s greatest joy was spending time with her son and helping him raise her grandchildren. Her and Donnie shared a very special mother and son bond, that can never be broken. Kathy’s life was filled with love and most importantly it was filled with family. Throughout her life she was very close with her parents, son, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews. In her retirement age, she loved watching her granddaughter play softball and ring the cowbell. She also enjoyed time with her grandson “D”, taking long car rides and talking about video games. She also enjoyed posting on Facebook and spreading love and support to everyone. Kathy’s hobbies were scrapbooking and baking.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Audrey Rae (Brailon Malaki Wheeler) Hedrick; grandson, Donald “D” Allen (Ava Rose Lockwood) Hedrick III; sisters: Suzanne (Mike) Rachlin, Jacquelyn Dickerson, Jeannine (Freddie Sr.) McDaniel, Jeannette Lotzer, Mary Frances Garee; brother William Garee; sisters-in-law, Paula Garee and Karla (Rick) Wogerman; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, the family members who have preceded her in death, and welcomed her into Heaven with open arms are her son, Donald Allen Hedrick Jr.; an infant daughter; former husband, Donald Allen Hedrick Sr.; brothers, Richard (Sue) Garee and Robert A. Garee; sister, Evelyn Thayler; brother-in-law, Pete Lotzer Sr.; nephews, Jeremy Hedrick, Freddie D. McDaniel Jr., and Michael Riepenhoff; great-nephew, Jacob D.
