Kathryn M Davis

Kathryn “Kate” Mary (Schafer) Main Davis, 98, passed away at 10:43 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Lima Memorial Hospital, just an hour short of her 99th birthday.

Kathryn was born on January 3, 1920, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Charles Jacob & Sarah Edna (Tummel) Schafer.  Kate first married Donald E. Main who passed in June of 1973.  She then married Richard E. Davis, who preceded her in death on May 17, 2009.

Kate was a member of Central Christian Church for 86 years, and a 60 year member of Eastern Star.  She was also a Life Member of the VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by two daughters:  Sondra J. (Paul) Swick of Lima, Barbara (Bill) Vance of Florence, KY, a son Dennis E. (Lynette) Main of  Lima, step-sons: David L. “Dave” (Kathy) Davis of Lima, OH, and Richard E. “Dick” (Gloria) Davis II of Largo, FL, sister-in-law Eileen Schafer of Lima, sister: Alice Hughes of Vaughnsville, OH, five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, three brothers: Fred Schafer, Harold Schafer, and Robert Schafer, five sisters: Helen Foust, Mildred Gross, Bea Peggs, Dorothy Brown, and Marie Martin.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio and 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.   A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the funeral home.  Rev. Todd Cosart officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
